MACKINAW, ILLINOIS - Illinois Traction Depot


Photoette undivided back postcard of the Illinois Traction Depot in Mackinaw, Illinois. Postcard is postmarked at Deer Creek, IL., and dated October 6, 1909. This postcard was published by C.U. Williams of Bloomington, IL. Construction on the depot began in 1909 and was completed in 1910. The depot was last used by the railroad in 1953 and sat vacant for many years. The building was renovated in 1998 and now serves as a tea room and gift shop.

MORTON, ILLINOIS - Morton Pottery


Real photo postcard of The Morton Pottery Co. which was located on West Jefferson Street in Morton, Illinois. Photo was taken in the 1940s. Morton Pottery was in this location from December 1922 until it shut down in September 1976. The building was demolished in 1977 to make way for the new Morton Public Library building. This postcard was published by The L.L. Cook Co. of Milwaukee, WI.

The two story building on the corner was the bank and on the far corner is Conibear's Drug Store. Both buildings are still standing today. The postcard is postmarked at Washington, IL., and is dated March 9, 1911.

MORTON, ILLINOIS - Amish Church



Real photo postcard of the Amish Church in Morton, Illinois. Postcard is postmarked at Morton with a date of March 7, 1911. The Amish Church stood on the present location of the Apostolic Christian Church on Jefferson Street in Morton. The Amish Church was destroyed by an arson fire on December 12, 1912.
